abs brake problem?

1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, 4wd, 4.0.
Brakes work good as far as stopping is concernd, however, when I am almost stopped, just before I stop, the pedal depresses a little bit, shimmys, then catches. A funny feeling, like its going to go to floor but never does.
I replaced the front rotors and pads, no change. I do not have the death wobble as has been described here, this is in the pedal itself, but just briefly. The rear drums are in good shape, no leaks. The pedal does not slowly go down with a steady pressure if it would be. Like I said I have good brakes other than the weird feeling right before a stop.
Took it to a Jeep dealer, they spent two hours looking and said everything checks out o.k., they called "Star", I guess the makers of the abs for jeep. They said the ECU was bad, 520.00. I said no and got one from a yard for 40.00. Same problem, no change. Any ideas guys. Please help, goin on a trip in a month, don't want brake problems on the road. Thanks. Oh, no brake light comes on, like I said everything is good except the glitch right before it stops.

Re: similar prob

Sounds like the brake booster going south....try this check straight from the manual.
1 Depress the brake pedal several times with the engine off and make sure there is no change in the pedal reserve distance.
2 Depress the pedal and start the engine. If the pedal goes down slightly, operation is normal.
Try bleeding the brakes and check your pedal travel sensor located on the booster.
