Help me decide which of these 2 cars to buy...

I've been spending the last couple of months researching new cars in the $16,000-$19,000 range and I've narrowed it down to two choices: the Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart and the Scion tC. If you were purchasing, which would you go with and why? Here's some stats...

2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart:
162hp, 162 lb-ft of torque, 2.4L MIVEC (like VTEC) 4-cyl
22-29 miles per gallon
Pros: Options I would get include a 6-speaker Infinity stereo with an 8-inch subwoofer in an 8-liter enclosure, sunroof, and the 5-speed manual and shifter from an Evo;good exterior looks; 10-year powertrain warranty; race seats from a Japanese Lancer Evo GTA.
Cons: Cheap-looking interior components, higher price, 16-inch wheels (instead of 17), no overdrive gear, not available in blue, company may not last without DaimlerChrysler's money.

2005 Scion tC:
160hp, 163 lb-ft of torque, 2.4L VVT-i 4-cyl
22-30 miles per gallon
Pros:Tons of standard features for lower prices (includes Pioneer six-speaker stereo, power everything, reclining rear seats, sport bucket seats, etc), all-glass roof with sliding front panel (like a sunroof), 17-inch wheels, Toyota build quality, 3-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.
Cons: Only 2 doors, extra features are dealer-installed and somewhat expensive, limited availability may lead to mark-ups.

Please do me a favor and DO NOT post with responses suggesting a different new OR used car that I could purchase. I'm very familiar with the market and know what I could buy, these are my final two choices. Thanks in advance!

i'd probably go with the tC just because unless hell freezes over Toyota isn't going anywhere for a while, and Toyota's never die.

i like the overall apperence of a tc compared to a raliart.. after being in a evo8 know other form of the lance compares.. its seems pointless to me to buy a lancer if its not an evo8.. i dont know about you but i would wana get made fun of driving a lancer.. (j/k)

I'm not trying to hop on the bandwagon or anything here, but I'd also go with the tC. My brother owns an OZ lancer and it's constantly giving him trouble.

Re: Help me decide which of these 2 cars to buy...

I have been hearing that the other Lancer's aren't great to have and that they break down a lot, plus then my brother-in-law told me that Mitsu is going out of business. So, I would have to agree with turbo2nr on this one and say "if you aren't getting an EVO8 then I would get the tC. I can't say that I have seen any around here yet. Good luck on your quest!!

Gotta love the tc's looks!!!
cool skyline-ish front, nice sharp/smooth shapes, two doors - come on, thats a plus! coupé 4ever
the rear window rules, wonderful profile, like a mixture of audi a6 and bmw

VVT-i is very very realiable I think, the car has probably a gearbox near to perfection (see Lotus Elise)

I'd instantly buy that tc

edit: get 18"s for it!

btw - the evo's FUGLY

Re: Help me decide which of these 2 cars to buy...

I have a Ralliart, and one of the other cars I was considering was the tC. But I decided that having 4 doors and a roomy backseat were important. Also, the Ralliart has an excellent shifter, straight from the Evolution. I've driven an Evolution, and the Ralliart feels just like it, except with a lot less power.

Re: Help me decide which of these 2 cars to buy...

Scion tC - definitely.

http://www.maximum-cars.com/Cars/Car.php?carnumber=562

"For added performance, a dealer-installed supercharger package developed by Toyota Racing Development will be offered later in the year. The turn-key performance option with an output of approximately 200 horsepower can be purchased with the vehicle, or added later. And like all things Scion, it will be surprisingly affordable."

BTW, the tC looks like something Chris Bangle (BMW) designed.
