how much did u guys pay for ur rsx-s?
i made an offer via email to a local dealership for 22,000 for an rsx type s , then this salesman replied to me saying that 22,500 would be fair, including oil changes until 100,000 miles and free carwash and vacuum . well i tought about it and i told the guy i really dont need oil change , why dont u guys keep that and give me a 300 dollars discount . so the salesman finally said, if we can meet at 22,350 we have a deal. let me know.
wut do u guys think? is that a good deal? should i jump on that or wait for another dealership quote ? how much did u guys paid for ur rsx type s out thedoor something around that price? |

as far as the price itself, a type-S invoice is $21,261. if you stand firm, you can probably get one for 22K flat.
if the dealer is offering to meet you at 22,350, you can easily get him to drop to the second price you offered. (22,200 i assume) dont use the thinking, "its only 150 bucks". as it is, he already has you up 200 from your original offer. My 2 uncles who are salesmen themselves always say "the person who makes the next move loses". basicly if you call back and accept his price, you lose. you wait afew days and tell him you will think about it, odds are he will call back and accept YOUR price, making him the loser. only time this will fail is if 1) your offer is crazy and its not and 2)someone else comes in and is willing to pay the dealers price on the spot, and for a type-S i dont think that happens every day. |

Car salesman...ugh.
I got mine for 17,000 with a 5K trade-in exactly. So you SHOULD definitely be able to score one for 22K.

Re: how much did u guys pay for ur rsx-s?
I'm shopping for a used RSX-S right now and boy am I sick of haggling.
I had agreed on a price with a man selling one in Missouri (16k for a 2002 with 33k miles on it) and then when I called back to confirm 2 hours later, he said the deal was off because he had just gotten 2 more calls and they were interested as well, possibly for the price he originally listed of 17k. Apparently he isn't expecting them to negotiate too? |

Re: how much did u guys pay for ur rsx-s?
redsox i just told this salesman that i'm gonna think about it . i hope he calls me and accept this price. to be straight with u guys i'm looking something around 24k including 6% sales tax here in ct and all kinds of fees and license plates or whatever bullshit they charge .so if i get it for 24k my monthly payments will be 400 a month plus finance charge of course. i was gonna put 6k down but i'm gonna save it for modifications .
rsx_s777 i think u got a heck of a deal.. what about dealership and documentation fees what should i expect for this bastards to charge me ? can u give me any advice on how much should they charge for documentation fees license plates and all that bullshit , i really dont wanna feel that i got ripped off, cuz i know they make a profit out of all those fees too. thank u in advance cartoys they also offered me an 02 type s for 20k this car had only 14k miles on it , so i think either 16k or 17k was a fair price. i hope u get wut u want , i know how it feels , i'm so desperate to buy this rsx cant wait to be driving it . good luck. |

First of all, don't go for that crap that the car salesman gave you. It doesn't cost them anything to change your oil or give you a car wash. They pretty much roll it into their operating costs of the dealership and it is a very small fraction, in terms of cost, of what they tell you.
Stick to the price you want. You should be able to get it for invoice price if you really haggle with the guy. I talked to a guy at the dealer, and during the test drive we talked and I told him I was looking at the 20k range. He basically stated this, "Well, you know that the TypeS is not even in that range." After that, I decided to look at other places and found a great deal at Carmax for a TypeS that only had 700 miles on it. It was priced at lower than $21k and decided to get it. A few months later, the guy calls me up and asks me if I'm still interested in getting the car. Then I reminded him about his statement and said I found one in the $20k range that I was looking for! josersx, you are doing great with your bargaining. Keep him on the ropes, and if there are any other dealerships around, tell him that they gave you a lower price and that you are going to their dealership in the next couple of days. And never show your desperation to the dealer or sound excited when you talk to him about it. One last great suggestion I can offer is to go to edmunds.com and read up on what the price is around your area. They even give you a price that you should be paying for it. In my area the invoice is 21, 261 and what others are paying is $22,005. But of course, in my area I see alot of RSX's out there and it might not be the case in your area. Be informed, play the dealers against each other, and good luck to you all. |

Re: how much did u guys pay for ur rsx-s?
this is what other r payin in or around my area
http://edmunds.com/new/2004/acura/rs...0406/optionsre by the way this dealership that gave me a quote for 22,350 is 31 miles away from my house,i'm trying to contact via email to another dealership that is only like 10 miles away from where i live , but looks like the internet sales consultanta hasnt seen my email yet i talked to him before about the changes that the 05 rsx was going to have , and he really took like three days to answer my questionns, hopefully he'll be reading my email by tomorrow ,so if i get a price around 22350 i will have to jump on that cuz i really dont wanna drive 30 miles .btw i already asked him if i can make an offer. lets see what he says. monto a car with 700 miles , lower than 21k that was a real good deal. u really got lucky on that one. |

Re: how much did u guys pay for ur rsx-s?
Just price it out on edmunds. They include the dealer destination fee. All you have to do with taxes is multiply the car price by the state tax and then include the tag fees for your state. Those are the only things you should be paying for(title fee too). Make sure to read all the forms carefully and question anything that you don't understand. When I went to pick up the Neon, they tried putting in some fees which raised the total price that they quoted me over the phone. I then had them take the price of the car down even more since they said that they were required to put these fees on. Remember that you should be in control of the situation and not them.
Dude, since the one dealer is closer, tell the farther dealership that they are offering you a lower price for the car and that, if they go even further down in price, that you are willing to go out of your way to buy it from them. I did this when I bought my Neon and it worked. Got it down another $200. But that was a Neon, after all. I drove about 40+ miles to get mine. Just take your time with these dealers and it will be productive towards your end in the long run. Also tell them that you are also looking at other vehicles like a Mazda3 and that you're still considering between the two. Luckily, I didn't have to go through all this again with my TypeS! Man, I hate bargaining with dealers. I can certainly tell you that the way Carmax/Saturn do business is the way to go - no haggle! Haggle = waste of time! |

but if they try getting smart on the doc fees and all that bullshit , i'll get up and leave simple.. i dont think all the fees and shit r gonna be over 350 . |
