Acryl Primer??!!

So I was at the LHS the other day, perusing paint, and I came across something I'd never seen before, in amongst the Testors Model Master Arcryl paint rack:

MM Acryl Primer, in white and grey

Maybe you can imagine my shock and awe , as I've been desperately hoping to some day find an airbrushable, sandable primer- an acrylic one would be too much to ask for! (Be still, my beating heart!)

BUT, maybe you can also imagine my immediate and unbridled cynicism - it can't be, I thought. After all, Testors grey primer in the spray can has proven utterly indestinguishable from flat grey enamel paint- nothing more than a fiendish trick of marketing.

At this point, I could hardly care if it's safe to use under laquers- this is completly unrealistic, obviously. I just want to know, does it go on/behave anything at all like Tamiya's laquer primer? Can it be sanded, or can it at least be sanded better than standard Acryl paint?

Tamiya primer is a really terrific product- but I'm sick to death of spray cans! I'm tired of having only 40% of the contents of the can go onto the body I'm prepping, wasting the rest in overspray. I'm tired of the permeating stink of the stuff, everpresent in the house for days after a single use (I really pity you guys who paint in apartments, or worse, bedrooms!). Could Acryl primer be a viable alternative??

Anyone used, or even seen this stuff?

OK, done ranting now.

Re: Acryl Primer??!!

You can use epoxy primer for automotive which is fairly sandable.
