Hyde is no drag queen ... took 1st in SM2

I feel like I need to introduce myself in this forum. Some of you may know me if you happen into the drag racing forums.

I've been building "Hyde" ... my 1991 Turbo MR2 to be able to compete in drag racing, autocrossing and Solo 1 Hill Climbs.

After a year-and-a-half of concnetrating on drag racing, I finally made it back to a Solo II course. It felt great. I love Hyde's new balance ... I was really concerned that I was going to hate the car with the way in which I lost all the weight I did over this past winter (150 lbs lost from the driver forward).

It turns out I love the car. It was the best I've felt at an autocross and the times showed.

I would like to thank ATS RACING (atsracing.net) for their support and also world-motorsports.com & turboforum.net for their help.
And of course, Bryan "NoShoes" Moore (http://noshoes.madpowaz.com) my tuner and advisor! ... thank you all.

I took 1st in SM2, but my winning time was one of the best of the day when looking at all classes and I am pretty sure I had fastest time of the day on street tires.

Needless to say, I feel confident going into my first SCCA Solo 1 Hill Climb event in 2 weeks. Wish me luck!

So how does the mr2 behave in autox? any particular tendencies?

Damn dude, thats a pretty sweet ride, 11 secs in the 1/4 and a solid AutoX car, what more could you ask for

is it a daily driver?

Neutrino, most MR2s tend to oversteer because of themid-engine layout. Hyde is rather nuetral right now and I am loving it

... honestly? ... I want Hyde to be competitive in SCCA Solo 1 Hill clmbs as well. I have my first event on that level in 2 weeks

This has been my intent with Hyde since the beginning.
I wanted to build an all around performance car that can be driven on the street, but can be competive in a variety of motor sports venues.

Jekyl is my daily driver .... it is a 91 non-turbo MR2.
Hyde could easily be driven daily, but there just is no need.
I actually prefer the smoother NA power band for daily driving.

dont care much for stickers but I like the one on the back "you can run but you cand hyde"
