Cutting Bump Stops. need help jackassi!

hey jackassi or anyone else that can help...

i just put on a new set of bilstein shocks on my car (97 integra. the shocks are made for the 96 and up civic, but i have em on my car)

the shocks came with bump stops but i want to know if im supposed to cut them before installing them in my car? the bump stops that came with the bilstein shocks are shorter than the stock shock bump stops.

i only have the front shocks in the car and will be installing the rears today (coming in the mail today)....

the ride in the front is pretty harsh. very stiff! if i go over a pot hole or bump, the front passenger side shock makes quite a bit a noise. im thinking the nosie is coming from the upper control arm because i have dropzone camber kits on the front. i think the upper control arm is hitting the fender.

im gonna redo everything tomorrow, but if u can, can u tell me if i need to cut the bumpstops?

Re: Cutting Bump Stops. need help jackassi!

Bilstein bump stops should work for most applications(Neuspeed race). Going from stock to Bilstein will be a big change in ride feel/handling, especially if your using Neuspeed RACE springs. Any thing less than 2" is going to be tight.

It's very possible the upper CA is rubbing the fender slightly, there aint too much room when it's lowered.

thanks again jackassi. your advice is always appreciated!

oh yea i installed the rear shocks and the ride is a hell of a lot better. i also fixed the problems with the front shocks. it turns out that it was riding very harsh up front becaue those cheap ass dropzone camber kits were the problem. all of the bushing/collar inside of the camber kit came loose. this made the whole upper control arm slide foward and backwards everytime i would start moving or hit the brakes. i put some washers where the camber kits go on the control arm and it fixed the problem. rides so nice now.

thanks again

Did you get the Bilstein Monotube Self-Adjusting Gas Shocks? How much did you pay for them and where from?

i dont think these are the monotube self adjusting shocks. Their the HD (Heavy Duty) Bilstein shocks. they were made for the 96-00 civic but they fit on my 97 integra. i got them for really cheap. the fronts were $119 and the rears were $75. so all in total i paid just a lil over $200 for all the shocks including shipping. i got em all on Ebay. If you look around on ebay, u find really great stuff for cheap too! and these shocks were BRAND NEW also!
ride is awesome now
