ok heres the thing my wife and i really wanted to buy a 2nd gen DSM cause we really like them but we ended up buying a 99 nissan maxima which is still a decent car but now the tranny is starting to slip so were currently selling it. My wife is also 7 1/2 months pregnant and my question is is it still practical to buy a 2nd gen dsm or should i just get an all out family car? and has anyone else on here went through having a baby/carseat in back? does everything fit ok and all that?...also my wife and I love going to the drag strip to race and watch so a family car kinda makes us mad that we cant make it cool but still in the back of our minds we question if we should go with the old peoples flow or not, either buy a stupid 4 door honda civic type car again or a 2nd gen DSM also my current maxima has been the only automatic car ive owned and i hate it but it was for the "family"lol so just some tip s here would be great thanks DSM or family?

Re: having a family with an eclipse or talon, DSM vs Family car???
I would say that if you could get something along the lines of a WRX or EVO. There both sedan type family cars with some kick

Re: having a family with an eclipse or talon, DSM vs Family car???
It would be a tight sqeeze to put car seats back there but it could be done. As long as you dont have the car really long to where the kids get pretty big... It should work out... If it was me and i had the cash I would go for an EVO.

those are the two other cars i would buy but there too damn expensive right now. See my wife currently doesnt have a job and of course i make every payment right now aka car payment rent insurance all that crap so im on a tight budget and cant really afford anything over $8-10K because of payment and the baby so any other suggestions i guess could help too preferabbly less cash and a 95 or newer for loan length perposes thanks, Ryan

ya... i wouldn't recommand putting a kid in the back of that eclipse. i don't know how much you love your kid, but i certianly wouldn't do it to mine (if i ever get one). some of these suggestions are good, if you can find a evo or equivalent, that'll be a better choice.

I also wouldnt recommend putting a child in the back seat of the eclipse. The maxima isnt bad either, i drove my friends the other day and it was pretty fast for a stock sedan.

If you want a more family-type car, but still fast, a Galant VR-4 sounds like a good bet!
