A little help if you could....
Okay,
I have an 1988 Audi 90 ( I figured I would put this here since there isn't an Audi 90 specific forum)(hope that's okay) Anyway, my mom drove this car for about two months and then it died in the driveway and hasn't been touched since then. That was about a year ago. To make a long story short I now have posession of it and I need to make it work. I figured there was something wrong with the fuel pump, I replaced the relay that controls the car's computer and it fired right up. But now I can't get it to start again. Any ideas? I think it may have to do with the vehicle's alarm system, and I don't have the remote..go figure. BTW it's a 4 cyl. fuel injected, automatic and it has a Code Alarm security system. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Well, all of the CodeAlarms I know didn't do anything with the fuelpump. They are all starter kill systems. SO, if it is turning over, then it should be something else.

as its been stood a year,whats happened when it started is to loosen all the gunge etc around the engine,i.e piston rings etc.get a good jump battery, charge the existing one,change the plugs,and give it a good few extended cranks,it should go.

It is turning over and over and over but it never fires up. I checked the spark plugs and I am getting spark(i'll replace them when I know the vehicle is going to run)I charged the battery for a couple of hours and then gave it a jump with my battery charger(the battery was that dead. What stumps me the most is that I got it to fire up once and I revved it a few times, let it idle a little then shut it off to see if it would start again...but it won't fire up. Any other thoughts?

possible plugs failing under compression,cam belt slipped/broken.-dizzy cap/rotor--poor fuel.

fuel pump problem
Hi,
One of the relays in the fuse box has a pair of opening on top to insert a fuse (in the manual it says its a 10 amp fuse) and this jumpers the fuel pump. This would allow you to disconnect one of the banjo fittings from the fuel filter and put it in a coke bottle or something and without starting the car turn the ignition on (this will pressurize the fuel rack) if the fuel pump works it will squirt gas into your bottle, and anywhere else if you didn't get the coke bottle. If the fuel pump is gunny bag it's a pain in the ass to change, I had to change mine in my 1990 100 and its in the fuel tank and you have to get at it from inside the trunk. Good luck.

On UK models, you can take the brass Z shaped jumper out (it locks the starter if you take it out) and use this to jumper the fuel pump (after taking the relay out) The jumper livs in a horizontal position normally ----- It goes into a vertical position in the relays place
