Re: Turbo Not Boosting
did you set up your guage wrong? is your BOV or wastegate stuck open?

Exhaust leak?

my guess would be you have an exhaust leak leading to the up pipe to the turbo or an intake leak. I had the same problem when i first installed my turbo kit and I thought i had everything hooked up and clamped. Turns out, my collector pipe wasnt even tighthened down.

Re: Turbo Not Boosting
Your BOV is not leaking. Boost holds the BOV shut. The wastegate is closed correct?
Try removing the intake off of the turbo and spinning the blade. It should spin freely. Look at the exhaust turbine as well and make sure it isn't scraping. Check for vaccum leaks. 12in HG sounds low. Not to be a douche or anything, but you do realize that the turbo will not make boost unless you put the engine under a good load(like 50%+ throttle)? Who am I helping here? Anyways, good luck to both of you.

Re: Turbo Not Boosting
Lookie here:
1) You run a vacuum line to the BOV correct? 2) When vacuum is present, the BOV opens easily or actually does open depending on how stiff the spring is or is adjusted 3) When the compressor is making boost, the vacuum line running to the BOV is pressurized. 4) So pressure on the diaphram is the same as pressure on the valve face. But the diaphram also has a spring or possible two to keep more force on that side of the valve than the bypass side. 5) When you let off the gas, the throttle blade closes and immediatly there is a vacuum in the intake manifold. Immediately the vacuum line running to the BOV is under vacuum again. 6) There is now more pressure on the valve face than there is on the diaphram. 7) What happens? The valve opens.

Re: Turbo Not Boosting
Not quite. The reason why there's a wastegate is because it takes some of the load off the BOV/DV, reducing the chances of compressor surge.
Now, to the problem of the Boost Guage not reading right... It's hooked up correctly, right? |

Re: Turbo Not Boosting
What the hell!??
A boost controller does not bypass the wastegate. The wastegate is the valve that allows excess exhaust to pass the turbine by so you don't over boost. A boost controller merely controls the wastegate. You still need a wastegate with a boost controller. I don't know what you're trying to say with "takes some load off of the BOV/DV"... if you're limiting your boost(this IS what the wastegate's function is) because you're worried your BOV is too weak, you need some balls and a new BOV. |

Re: Turbo Not Boosting
You're right, I got confused...
That whole "boost controller bypasses the wastegate" thing threw me for a loop... |
