98 civic, 78k miles, auto, EX, yada yada...im wondering what could be wrong with the engine. the CEL came on, i did the OBD2 tester deal and came out with something bad in the vtec circuit system...vtec still engaged and kicked though.
drove awesome the whole time, easily pulling 100 on the interstate. i come home from the airport and it dies now, im going about 60 and i hear a bad rattling noise. get on the off-ramp. its been idling low, and everybody has been saying thats good, no wasting gas. well now its idling too low. way too low cuz its stalling out. theres enough oil in it, the battery was good cuz everything was working. i pulled off and heard a real bad knocking noise in the engine. it sounded like one of those TDI jettas, i shit you not. now its just stalling out., theres a half tank of gas, enough oil, and coolant and ATF. what could be the deal?

Re: my poor...dead...civic
Maybe putting higher octane gas in it would clear the knocking noise? I have no clue, but that's what I've heard can clear up that problem. Just a thought.

Re: my poor...dead...civic
get a valve adjustment, sounds like your valves are loose it should stop that clickity clackity sound you hear, also might be the sparkplugs, or the sparkwires
