killing problem
I have a 2000 Camaro 3.8L v6 which I just bought (my second one, actually). It starts perfectly, drives like a dream, and idles smooth, but when I idle for about 3-5 minutes or so (and not every time) it starts to idle very rough and then it kills. I restart it and it starts like nothing every happened. It has gone a couple days before it did it again. What could be my baby's problem? Please help me. Thanks.

Re: killing problem
My girlfriends car did the same thing.. It was just moisture on the plug wire terminals
Does your engine light come on?? have you washed your engine? Sounds like a loose or dirty/bad connection in your ignition system.. Pull your plug wires out (one at a time) and clean the terminals with electrical parts cleaner and use die-electric grease (plug and coil side) and put them back on.. Check each coil harness too..

Re: killing problem
Actually i have got the same problem like you do couple of years ago (was having a regular honda). It killed on me while i was driving on the highways on 2 occasions!
Two common areas you can check: 1. fuel filter - disconnect it from the cables and clean it. you will be surprised to find impurities inside. These stuffs fill up the neck of the filter and cut off the fuel supply to the engine, that's why your car just died all of a sudden. 2. ignition wires - like DaMoNe6969 had said, make sure they are dry. You can do as he said and clean them throughtout.I have friends who just change them (you don't know which is causing the trouble) to make things easier, but its cost more. Hope it helps. |

Re: killing problem
I had the same problem with my car. It would stall for no reason, then start back up and drive fine. I changed the fuel filter and it never happened again.

Thanks everyone. We changed the fuel filter and it seems like that was the problem because it hasn't done it again since.
