High Idle problem, please help
Okay well it's been a week since I went to the track and ever since that night (including the end of the night), my car has been idling at 2000-2300 RPM's, somewhere in that range. With the AC on it's at about 1500-1700 RPM's.
I tried searching around for this and I found many idle problems but most are problems like the idle keeps going up and down or something. Mine stays at a constant number. I did a boost leak test and I was leaking a little at the Throttle Body and at the Injectors so I replaced the gaskets on the TB and the O-rings on the Injectors, so all of that is okay now. Problem is, I'm still idling high. Oh yeah, if it's any more help, the vaccum on my boost gauge reads -20PSI while idling at 2000RPM's. That's what it should be at a normal idle... What else can I do to fix this? Gas is very expensive now so I can't afford to have my car sitting at 2 grand all the time. Before the night at the track my car idled fine, about 750 RPM's. |

Re: High Idle problem, please help
Are you sure there are no other leaks? Do you have anything that can show you the ISC position? (dsmlink, scantool, etc)

Re: High Idle problem, please help
did you check the oring on your Base Idle Set Screw? im guessing you know but the BISS is the plastic screw on your throttle body that lets in extra air to set the base idle

No, I have no DSMlink, and yes I messed with the BISS, the only place it can go is back out and I don't want that, lol.

Ah I just fixed it
. It was the screw behind the TB on the bottom. I backed it way out and my car is idling at about 750-800 RPM's now. It's great, my engine sounds so quiet now, lol. Thanks alot guys. I'm guessing that the screw screwed itself in at the track from all of the vibrations of running the car hard. If anyone would like to know which screw I'm talking about I'll take a pic of it tomorrow for future reference.

Re: High Idle problem, please help
Alright here we go guys, this is the screw that I had to back out. It is on the back of the TB under where the cable connects to.
