Score 1 for Eclipse Reliability

So last weekend I set out on a trip from Orlando to Boston in my GSX. I left last Saturday and drove to South Carolina (7hrs.), stopped there for the night; then I set out and drove 16 hrs. to Boston the next day.

For the most part the trip went without a hitch. The only problem I had was that my air-conditioning gave out about an hour into the trip. It stopped blowing cold air which made the high 90s of Florida less then pleasant. Every once in a while I would get a blast of cold air.

Other than that, I had no issues on the road. My car had 132,000 miles on it at the beginning of the trip too. I was very impressed with the gas milage I got (about 29 mpg!!).

I know the reliability of eclipses is a hot topic on the forum and I wanted to add my . I think that if properly cared for, a turbo eclipse is just as reliable as any other car. I got mine with 120,000 miles on it a year ago (yeah...I drive a lot), I keep up with standard maintenace and the car has never given me a problem (despite the a/c and the failing bov but I don't associate those with reliability).

That's really good to know. I read alot of stuff about the GS-t's and GSX's on google groups that was really bad. People having a lot of trouble with those cars. That's good we had someone to test the theory

Re: Score 1 for Eclipse Reliability

Glad the trip went well I used to drive from the Boston area to NC (Duke), race at Rockingham Dragway while I was there, and drive back. If I didnt trust the reliability of the car, I wouldnt have dared to do that. Same with driving out the Shootout in Ohio, its about the same distance. I'll be trailering this year though Best mileage I got was 31 mpg, went 450 on that tank...

I go to Philly alot from CT. I haven't had a problem yet(not to jinx myself). I usually get there on a full tank of gas, too(plus speeding). As a matter of fact I am going again this weekend. Time for an oil change.
