To HDf or not To HDf? That is the question.

Which f1 would you rather prefer an f1 with a high down force kit or with out a high downforce kit. If you ask me the HDF kit is way nicer lookin. Or option 3 long tail.
HdF kit

I would get the GT simply because it's the rarest Mac.

the hdf kit (and huge rear wings/front spoilers in general) belongs on racers, not road cars. case closed!

If I had the means to buy one, I would want an unmolested road car first as I think the design is simply perfect. Then if I was wealthy enough to own a second one I'd find one of the tamed GTRs or an LM for the aggressive looks of the HD Kit.

If I had one I would keep it stock. If I had a second F1 roadcar I would consider getting the HDF kit on that.

Way off topic but I went to a car show today and noticed this on a vehicle: and remembered the last time I saw a car with a McLaren logo on it

Thumbs up Make mine the HDF

The car that was just auctioned at Christie's http://www.classicdriver.com/uk/maga...0.asp?id=11797

is what my dreams are made of. The color and looks are just right although the regular F1 in dark green would be EXTREMELY difficult to turn down (got the UT diecast of one of those). I can't even begin to imagine the extacy of owning the real thing.

the hdf kit doesn't fit the overall design of the road car. the front spoiler is much lower than the underbody of the car, and it looks completely ridiculus when you see it from the side. if some gtr95 sideskirts were added aswell, it wouldn't look as bad as without them, but it is still wrong (and imho totally unacceptable) to to tamper with the design of the road cars.

if you have enough money to own more than one mclaren, buy a street legal gtr instead of destroying a road car.

normal f1 then gt, but back looks overdone and imo, it will look old fashioned soon enough.

Re: To HDf or not To HDf? That is the question.

Chassis #011 - That, IMO, is the ultimate Mclaren F1. Sooooooooooo sexy colour scheme/interior and a VERY purposeful look alround.

The "problem" with road-converted GTR's is that, at best, without paying astronomical amounts to Woking, they can be converted to two-seaters, as the fuse bank occupies the right-hand (to the driver's perspective) seat area. Why bother?

It sounds like you are confused to thinking #11 is a road converted GTR?

Yes, that post was a bit confusing. I know 011 WAS a road spec car. Owned at one point, from a solid source, by one of the Ojjeh brothers, delivered in Carbon, then resprayed jaw-droppingly beautiful blue with biscuit interior and sold at Christies in London June 2003 for £593,750. Interestingly(?) Christies catalogue described it as "The First Formula 1 Car to be Sold Publicly in the UK" - which kind of confused me in itself!

My comment regarding the road converted GTR being two-seater was refering to DrPhibes comment "buy a street legal gtr ". Sorry I didn't make that entirely clear

Your exactly right about bastardizing a regular McLaren just to make it look bad boy. Don't know what I was thinking , but I get to repaint my GTR whatever color I want. Right.
