smelling gas when I start and run my car and now my car takes a few times to start it
Last week I started smelling gas when I started and ran my car. It started to take a few times to start it after that. Last night my car was hard to start. It took 5 mins. to get it to run. When I tried to start it, It did nothing but my lights came on. Could my fuel pump be going out?

It might be flooding if you're smelling gas.
We don't even know what kind of car you have or anything. To be able to help you, we need to know these things.

If you have a 2.7 v6, you need to get to a chrysler dealer before your car goes up in flames.

Depends....
It depends on what type of car you have before it can be properly troubleshot. It could be your fuel filter has sprung a leak, or one of the lines. My favorite pet peeve is the quick connects they use on the fuel filters and lines, they get clogged with junk and then deteriorate the connection, leading to failure within about 1 1/2 years. Check underneath your car and look for a wet spot on the frame or body, or a place where all the dirt and grime is missing, that indicates that it has been freshly washed with some kind of fluid. Check it from the tank back just to be sure.

My '90 Dodge colt does this also. I have determined that my car is flooding, just have not found the cause yet. Any suggestions might help us both, folks.

Your colt probably has leaks around the carb/ throttle body gaskets. the carb is a pain in the A$$ to rebuild.
Of course, check your other fuel and vapor lines and the vapor canister too.

umm, no, I do not find leaks around the intake. Also, this car is fuel injected, so I suppose the carb could be a bit tough to rebuild.

If it's injected, but it runs ok and you smell gas,
look for leaks around the injectors, fuel regulator, evap canister, vapor lies, clogged tank vent. Incorrect timing setings can throw off the injection timing and cause excess fuel (flooding) along with clogged catalytic converter. Lastly, the ECU can cause injector(s) to stay open and flood the engine, but it's possible that only will happen for one injector, and you wouldn't notice it right off. Of course, your fuel tank might just be leaking too.
