Anyone else think neon lights look tacky?

I've been looking on ebay for some cheap accessories for my new car and ive been seeing alot of neon lights. they have lights everything: windshield wipers, wheel wells, license plates, underbody, interior, audio systems, etc.

I was thinking to buy some of that stuff because its really cheap and looks kinda cool. But than i realized that it would look really tacky to be all neon'ed out. I'm thinking maybe ill get just an underbody kit and maybe some interior lights for the pedals and maybe a few console lights.

Just wondering what your opinions are about this stuff.

i think its kinda gay. i mean, its just something else to make people wanna steal your car. just worry about making it faster. or run better in your case...i hope you dont have too many problems with your new ride...

ya that was another of my concerns. If i had all these lights and blinking crap it would make me suseptable (sp?) to those bastard car thieves.

btw anyone know much about anti-car theft devices. Price and effectivness would be really helpful, im going to sink some cash into a security system for this car because i would just be devistated if anything happened to it ;(

I know a kid with to much money and to little brains he put neon underbody shit on his car (mid 90's Grand prix) and broke them when he hit a stick on the road and it bounced up and smacked 'em unless you car is show only I'd say no go it's to risky to drive around with lots of cash worth of neon under your car only to bust it all up so easily. but I think the floating on a ____( put you neon color here) cloud look is kinda cool

another thing is cops. a friend had sum street glows under his celica and was driving around campus, the second he went to park a cop pulled him over an issued him a fix it ticket. and if your gonna get em, get any colour but red or blue, theyr cop colours and you cant even have them on when you're parked (you can have all the other colours on while you're parked, but not driving). So yah, they look siic an all but whats the point if you have to live in fear with them on...

as far as security is concerned make sure you get LO JACK or some type of GPS tracking... this way if your car ever gets stolen, the cops can track it down within a few minutes (check for availability in your area). This is the best protection you can get... doesn't matter if you have an alarm (since everyone ignores them), or any other type of security, if you're dealing with thieves who know their shit they can bypass it and steal your car.

if you get the tracking system, you just make a call to the local police and they track your car down and catch the crooks!!!!

you can see i am pissed because someone just stole mine and my alarm didn't do shit.
