Reason for no start

If a supercharged car has fuel and fire; what would be the reason for it not starting? The injectors have fire to shoot fuel. Can a supercharger keep a car from starting? What can it be?

Re: Reason for no start

An engine needs three things to run. Proper fuel, Proper spark, Proper air. Many variables because of computer controlled systems. What events led up to a no start issue?

Re: Reason for no start

Pull the codes (If any). ALWAYS hook up a code scanner and see what codes the computer spits out first.

Now, with that said, on one of our beloved Supercoupes, even the wrong pressure in the tires will prevent it from starting. I got your attention, eh? good.

I was kidding about the air in the tires, orfcourse. But here are some common problems on the SC's:
1. Crankshaft position sensor. -Does the Upshift light stay on when you are cranking the engine? (the Upshift light is a yellow light with an UP arrow on it). If it stays on during cranking, you have some nasty problems in the way of CrankShaft position sensor, and most likely Harmonic ballancer.

2. CPS - Camshaft position sensor, aka PIP. That's where the distributor would be on non SC 3.8 liter cars.

3. The supercharger will not prevent the car from starting unless it sucked in something big enough to plug it. Which is impossible. You may have some vacuum leaks, but that wouldnt prevent the car from starting. Just running.

3. Fuel pump.

Your best bet is to pull the computer codes. If it's something electrical like I have described above, the computer will throw a code. (except #3)

There are so many things that can prevent an SC from starting, that it would take me a long... LONG time to go through them all.
