Roller Cam

I have a 77' 400 motor. I am currently looking for a cam. I was wondering if I could make this engine a hydraulic roller. Any block machining? Rev kit with roller lifter? any comments or suggestions are appretiated/

Comp and Crane both supply hydraulic rollers for the traditional Pontiac V8. We've found the Comp Xtreme Energy series to be the most effective street cams going today.
One drawback is the need for a bronze distributor gear. No one supplies a decent roller in an iron core. While the bronze gear works, it won't last forever. BOP Engineering now supplies a composite gear that seems to fix the problem (two in "test", no variation in timing).
There is no need for a Pontiac to have a "rev kit". If you rev it past 7,500 (where you may NEED one), you will have probably spit out a rod or two... Pontiacs make their power at much lower RPMs than Chevys and Fords. If you tune and gear toward an engine with a 6,500 redline, you will have lots of fun and tear up a Chevy or three...
In order to take advantage of the roller, you should upgrade the heas with port work and good valves.
Staying with the 400? Or would you consider a stroker? You can e-mail me for more specific information. [email protected]
