beyond my knowledge....

ok, heres the problem. i drive a 91 si. and its got a bit of a problem. below 3000 rpm it just doesnt want to go, like its firing on two cylinders almost, then around 3000 rpm, its like hitting the nitrous button or something, and im in full power.

it feels almost like the fuel injectors are half open till 3000 and then bam, wide open.

ive got an intake, headers, empty cat (no inspections means no cat, go arkansas) a flowmaster and a custom grounding kit, im also running an amp and sub, but nothing extreme at all.

ive got several theories, but i thought i would run it by you guys as well.

first, im thinking perhaps the alternator just isnt creating enough electricity below 3000 to provide ample spark.

second, could my ECU need to be reset? (havent ever done it)

third, timing belt?

fourth, bad gas?

anyways, any of you guys know whats going on?

Re: beyond my knowledge....

thing is, i replaced the spark plug wires and the wire that runs from the coil (?) to the distibutor, and it still does it. am i missing some other wires?

oh, i should mention, its only every now and then, usually when pedal is pushed down quickly. (ie, i can gradually push the pedal down and it wont happen, but if i slam it down, it happens)
