How do u remove rear speakers on a 99' Elantra GLS

My rear window shattered and glass in now in the rear speakers. I can't find a way to remove the speakers so I can clean them out. Does anyone know how to remove the rear speakers for a 1999 Hyundai Elantra GLS. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks

Alright, this sounds like a real pain in the butt, and really it is, but getting those rear speakers out properly is the objective.

I have a 99 Elantra GLS, and had the same problem you are having, here's the directions:

First, take out that assembly for the tail light in the rear deck. The bolts for it can be reached via the inside of the trunk. It will lift up and out. it's a pain to get it around the back window, but work with it, it will come out.
Next, and this is the part that sucks, get out your ratchet set and there are I think 3 bolts that are between the back of the seat and the bottom of the seat that you need to remove in order to remove the backrest portion of the back seat. Once those are out, lift out the backrest portion of the back seat and set it aside.
Now you have got about 3-4 plastic retainers that hold the rear deck of the elantra in place. Take those out gently so you don't break them, and remove the rear deck.
Now, you should easily be able to access the backside of the speaker grills if you would like to replace them, and you can also now reach the top-mount screws of the rear 6x9 speakers.

Oh, guess the back glass won't be as big of a problem since it is shattered out... sorry.
