65 Skylark won't start when cold

My 65 Skylark with the stock 300 V-8 4-barrel won't start. The car had been sitting for about a year. I installed a new distributor cap. points and condenser. When I try to start the car after sitting all night it will not start. It acts like it is out of gas. If I spray a shot of starting fluid into the carb throat it will start right up and run fine. It will also easily start right up and run fine the rest of the day with no problem. The no-start problem only happens after sitting all night. What could be causing this?

You may want to clean the choke mechanism. You need less air in the mixture when cold. You can install a manual (cable operated) choke on this car without much problem if you so desire. Good Luck.

I figured it out. The accelerator pump is bad.
