Im lookin for an engine swap for a 91 accord. people have told me that the accords "standard" H22 swap has to much torque. i was wondering if the B16b civic type r engine would work. or the B18c.. or whatever. I also have a budget of around 2500..any help is appreciated

i've been wondering this also. the H22 would be nice but can be costly. have you considered taking the engine from a 5th gen accord and swapping it. i know they even make turbo kits for them.

Am I reading this correctly? Guys, there is no such thing as "too much torque." All Honda engines are torque-starved, including the H22. The reason for its popularity is threefold:
1. It has the same mounting points as the F22, so it fits right in. 2. It has enough torque to pull your heavy Accord around. 3. It's cheaper than an ITR motor. No real advantage would be realized by swapping in an F22b... The added hp from the VTEC head is not really worth the cost of the engine + install. The F23b, on the other hand, is a neat idea, since they're pretty cheap for low mileage, 2-3 year old units.

well if u don't like the h22 swap consider the h23 swap. h23 is a stroked non-vtec engine that makes some 160hp and 165 ft/lbs of torque if i remeber well. the only advantage h23 has over h22 is that it is better for turbo since it has a lower cr. IMO the h22 is the better deal all around

most people havent heard of this swap but they have tons of torque. the B20B or the 96-00 crv engine. i got a friend changin our his b18c turbo for this. hes changin out the internals and having his turbo fitted for the B20B . it is a cheap engine too(895?) they have them on www.hondamotoronline.com. you will have to change out the motor mounts but for only spending 900 on the engine you should have some $ to spare.

call me crazy but isn't swapping down in displacement kind of pointless (in general). I imagine that you could swap heads on your f22b and put the VTEC head on, although it would be a pain...just go turbo if you don't want an h22 or h23.
