Driving Ambition Insert

Just a quick question. Does the new re-print of Driving Ambition come with the large "F1 Production History" gatefold like the original edition?

It most certainly does. The book appears to be identical in every way, save for the "Reprinted YEAR" in the front of the book.

Re: Driving Ambition Insert

I took the insert and had it framed. Looks beautiful.

Perhaps i'm missing the point, but what gatefold are you referring to: is it a seperate document within the book that can be removed?

Some kind of picture would be nice, if anyone has one, as my copy of Driving Ambition came as a book and nothing else.

Yes, the book includes what most refer to as a poster - one side featuring a photo of the last production F1, and the other side featuring a chart that shows the complete chassis history through the entire production run - basically every F1 built after the Clinic Model and also the race history for the GTRs from 1995 through about 1997.

Re: Driving Ambition Insert

I'll see if I can get mine posted somewhere and link to it ...

Scrap that plan. the photos look terrible. Either too dark or too many reflections. Anyone else assist in posting the History poster?

I already had these hosted and even though I wanted to include them in my post, my image host was giving me grief last night and I didn't feel like uploading them elsewhere.

This is the image on the front of the poster:

Here's the information that you'll find on the backside. The complete chassis history runs across the top, broken down by year and type, and the racing history occupies the chart below:

The poster measures 36" x 24" or 91cm x 61cm for those who prefer the metric system.

If you can get an immacualte copy, the history sheet looks amazing and VERY tasteful, when framed and in the midst of an F1 (scale!) collection.

I bought an extra copy from someone on Ebay with the sole intention of framing that side. I'm not a huge fan of the photo on the front.

Me neither. It's a bit too much of a 8-year old boy's bedroom wall material. The full F1 History however, not that IS a work of art and well worth displaying.!

Peleton, have you the green cutaway illustration signed by Lord Montagu of Beaulie?

Just wanted to add my ditto about the poster being in the latest edition book. I just got my book and most definitely comes with the poster. I'd like to find someone with a scanner large enough to scan it.

What would be great is a photo of each F1 in it's original completed state. I wonder if McLaren Cars keeps a library of photos each time a car sees a refit to document it's history?

No, but feel free to mail me your copy.

Actually, I think I may know where to get one. I should follow up on that...
