EL' Cheap0 mods?

Welp i got my dsm 2 weeks ago, i am going to rebuild the motor, put on a turbo, and get a new trans once i sell my other car. But any how i was wondering well im in there are there any good free mods to do?

Like detaching the water lines to the TB to keep it cooler stuff like that. Or are there any good sites out there that show these?

Re: EL' Cheap0 mods?

dump tube mod
http://www.tgilmore.com/talon/dumptube.html

wasetgate restriction removal
http://www.jumptronix.com/2g_go_fast...rictionFAQ.htm

best thing is to do the wastegate mod at the same time as your dumptube mod, its really, really easy to do when the airbox is off!!

clean your intercooler.

have fun.

Re: EL' Cheap0 mods?

Are you talking about a DSM or your avenger?
TB water lines don't affect any performance
If you are talking about a turbo DSM i'll go over my plan for beating 95 GSXracer's "$1800"

P.S. I'm going to beat it

Re: EL' Cheap0 mods?

Alright well here goes. Note that I don't have access to much local/club used parts... but soon.
This is what I have currently, and exactly how much it cost me including shipping:
1g BOV $62 - dsmtrader
Dave Brode UICP $82 - dave brode himself
A pillar $35 - local (this shouldn't even count )
Boost gauge - $30 local, ultra-lite series 30-0-30
Busta BC $30 from Vladamir Bustamante himself (or buy a joe P for $50+)
3'' ABS intake ~$18 from Home Depot

This is all i'm doing in Alaska, once I am in colorado with my car, I will buy the rest. I already have the money:

RMdsm/co.dsm used turboback $450 (or ebay for $600+, custom for $500)
14b $100 - junkyard, club, or free
190 walbro $75 new
3'' MAF $50-75 they are common
MAFt $150-200 used/new
pocketlogger $175 new (add more for a palm, I already have 3)

total - $1257-1332

It wasn't hard to beat $1800 really, considering 95 GSXracer invested in a pricey profec-b instead of the ultra-cheap BBC. I think he did 12's on pump gas, but I would need the extra $500 to replace my lack of tuning knowledge or resort to race gas for 12's.

Also, since I'm cheap but not broke during these mods, I might go with DSMlink from the beginning for around $1000 because it's the best. MAFt is still usable with DSMlink unlike if I went with an S-AFC. Pocketlogger would go up for sale though. I might go straight to a 255lph pump and FPR for later too.

For kicks, since I'm a dreamer... next is FIC 880's, SBR or ebay spearco + custom piping FMIC, clutch, and a bigger turbo + all the goodies that go with it. Ported/new o2 housing, tial wastegate, etc... 2.3 stroker?, propane?, intake mani?, cams? We'll see.

I think we should have joewagon and 95gsxracer run the 1/4 against eachother.

Go to the third thread from the top of the eclipse forum. It will say "IMPORTANT: Read this before you ask a question." You will find your answer in there.
