Exhaust flames

I know that the Borla exhaust system for the rx8 has the ability to shoot out flames. But does anyone know if the HKS Legamax exhaust system for the rx8 can shoot out flames too?

Re: Exhaust flames

Exhausts dont shoot out flames.

When the engine backfires (among other causes) the flames come out of the tailpipe. So it doesnt really matter what exhaust you have.

Re: Exhaust flames

The stock exhaust "shoots" tiny blue flames, so i imagine that any aftermarket exhaust system would further enhance the flame effect.

Revving the engine to about 7,000 rpm gets the exhaust sytem very, very hot. Back off the throttle in like 2nd/3rd gear and basically a richened fuel mixture will pass through the exhaust cycle, get super-heated in the exhaust and when it reaches the fresh O2 at the end of the pipe- BAMM! Fireball.

The process is amplified with headers, straight exhaust and no anti-afterburn valves (at least on my 85).

However- I don't think it's too good for CATS..

Re: Exhaust flames

He may be a ricer, but flames + RX8 = cool in my book.

Borla flames......

Never seen a Legamax in action, but I am sure it would blow flames. It is louder and less restrictive than my Borla, so logically should do the same.

For anyone who hasn't seen it, there is a video of some interesting night shots....

and no, that's not me.

Re: Exhaust flames

One of the dumbest thing can ever do with a car...

You don't see it happens when you drive...
And it's not doing any good to the exhaust. What's so cool about? Guys just don't think with the right head...

Re: Exhaust flames

A friend of mine bought an 86 rx with spark plugs put into the exhaust. definetly enhanced the flame effect, but that was just retarded. We imediately took that crap off, and welded up the exhaust holes.
