85 Camry sometimes runs great, sometimes....

my 85 camry was parked for 2 years, i charged the battery and no problem, started and ran great. then a couple days later, started pinging and sputtering, but not always..... Also i failed Aircare with the egr valve supposedly a suspect. I'm not really a gear head so would appreciate any ideas. thx

The EGR valve usually acts up at idle.When was the last tune-up?
