good news bad news

Good news... I got my CRX to run 5th up to 90+mph twice in no time briefly. I figured my tires would cave since they have little tread (I let some air out ) It felt good to briefly go that fast and not even be on the Interstate... that's what I love about the small engine Hondas... they go pretty fast and slow down pretty quick too.

Bad news... I smelled something that sort of resembled coolant, but not quite sure. Granted, I did have the throttle mashed pretty far (which I try not to do being my daily driver). The smell didn't last too long though. I know my headgasket is leaking a tiny amount of oil near the dizzy. Sometimes my exhaust pops too, but yes I do have a fart can. It only does it when it's boiling hot out though. Should I be worried? I'm not really too worried, but my wife gives me a freakin' hard time cuz she thinks I'm going to blow another motor. Side note.... she drives a 99' Passat and I think she only fell for me years ago cuz I had the 944. She loves the CRX though. I just can't win...

I would be really really conserned, tear the motor appart and rebuild it.

Shouldnt me much to worry about, Like Quikshifter said if you replace the headgasket go ahead and do it all, it will save some time later.

Re: good news bad news

thanks, I will definitely do a complete rebuild if I take the head off to do the gaskets...

Off topic, not to start new thread... I got a lot of performance parts in my CRX so I would love to keep it to build up, but I need a daily driver. A co-worker's husband has a shop and their son has CRX but they have a 89? Civic Wagon manual AWD that they might want to get rid of. Do y'all think it would be worth getting it and keeping it the way it is as a daily beater? I know I'd be tempted to swap parts but I just want something to haul peeps and stuff. Once I find out asking price and look at it, I'll post more info...

Wagons are sweet. Just be sure that it was well taken care of and then snatch it up.
