How good is this system??

I am getting all this for my 04 Civic:
2 Kicker Solo Baric L7 12"
Both subs will be going into a ported enclosure
Rockford Fosgate 1001BD Mono Amp

What can I do to make it better?
Thanks

Wow, you do realise to get the base you want you need at least a 5 cubic foot enclosure right? good luck fitting it in there. The solobaric was designed to perform in a sealed enclosure (I realise they are sweet in vented enclosures too) I would just go with the sealed and see if you aint happy with it, I bet you would be.

Definitly a sealed inclosure. It sounds like you have a good start with what you are working with. What are you using for a head unit? And what are you using for your high end?

5 cubic feet? Thats alot.
I bought a vented enclosure off ebay and its only 3.47 cubic feet.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1
I am going to see how this sounds and then decide if the bass is lound enough.

For a head unit I have a Kenwood KDC-X879

I also bought a Alpine 4 channell amp to power speakers.
1 Farad Lightning Strike Digital Cap...is this enough?

Re: How good is this system??

I was going off the manuacturer recomended enclosure designs... when dealing with high end components its far better to go with components which are made to perform in the environment you are putting them rather than stuffing in a piece of equipment not designed to work like that. Yes a kicker solobaric would rock in a ported enclosure... but are you willing to give it the volume of air it needs to do so?

Re: How good is this system??

Recommended is 1.75-3.25...so for two it would be 3.5-6.6 cubic feet. So my box is 3.47...so its at the very low end. So i might be able to pull it off.

Re: How good is this system??

yes but that is smaller than the compact design of a ported enclosure and if you read the literiture it says to "ADD THE VOLUME OF THE PORT TO IT" which would make even the smallest one larger still. I Expect you would get much better performance from the sealed enclosure build to exact specifications vs. a vented enclosure built that far from optimum. anyone else wanna sound off on this?

Re: How good is this system??

Mount the subs Inverted (magnet out) as this will increase the area inside the box. Only a tiny bit though. And remember to wire them up the wrong way round. I would get a battery not the cap!
I had a cap it was good 2 Tractor batteries were cheaper and now I can play all day engine off!

Re: How good is this system??

The system may hit hard or may not. My system is not loud but sounds cool and looks like it should be a lot louder than it is.
Phoenix Gold ZX600Ti briged into
RE Se 15 sub at 2 ohm to give 1200w from amp.
same amp running stereo at 4ohm
Crystal mobile sound 3way component speakers
Pioneer DEH77MP headunit

Re: How good is this system??

i only use kicker and jl audio subs in my car and to make those solo barics pound use a sealed box and switch the amp to a kicker KX1200.1. the rockford amps are good... but not like a kicker amp.if u want to destroy all the systems around u get the kicker kx1200.1 and thats just what ur going to do.

Not to mention that with high current loads this style of mounting also improves cooling as the air which the magnet etc. is in does not remain stale, it circulated with fresh air.
