1988 5 spd tranny clicks and whines, 1,2,3 and 5th

in my 88 5.0ho after i put it into gear, the tranny clicks, the faster i go the faster it clicks,in all gears but 4th, and it does it in reverse. Im loosing power when this happens. but 4th it feels like i have all my power back.

sounds like bad countershaft bearings to me. rebuild the tranny.
