85 turbo blows fire out exhaust
My 85 turbo blows blue flames out it's exhaust. the car had been sitting for about 9 months,and when I first drove it after that, blue flames and then actual orange flames shot out the tailpipe. It only seemed to be doing this when I let off the gas, either to shift, or when braking. Help???? It has completely ruined my exhaust pipe and started melting my bumper a bit. I have since stopped driving it to save problems with the cops!!

Same thing happened to my first ZedX when it came out of storage.
Everytime I would give it a hard rev, and let off, it would pop a few orange's out the back. I liked it  .It's just the car burning rich due to it sitting for so long. Give it a while. It shouldn't have ruined your pipe, I dont think... Any other opinion's here guys? -Wes

It's perfectly normal for a turbo to backfire when letting off the gas... especially an older car that has been sitting...

Doesnt even have to be a turbo, but it is more likely.
My buddies Eclipse GS-X with 4G63T powertrain (500+bhp, nice) had 3 inche straight back piping from the turbo, eveytime he would even TOUCH the throttle, it would start spewing flames. It was a site to behold .Look AWESOME when he took that thing down the track. Anyways, I wouldnt worry too much about your little flame thrower there... Sounds kinda cool, haha. -Wes

HA.....yea...be grateful it doesn't blow smoke like mine did a little.....started turning my bumper black....till the muffler came off........

Yeah, I hope it's nothing major, it did ruin my cat and the car is disgustingly loud now. I sure miss driving that car, and yes it does look kinda cool blowing flames! Mabee, I should fire (no pun intended!) her up again one of these days.

I've looked all over the damn place. I'm looking for an 86-89T, 5 speed, any color, (almost) any RUNNING condition for ~$1,000. I don't care what it looks like too much as long as it runs well. I don't mind fixing a few cosmetic things like putting new seats in cuz the old ones are ripped or cleaning shit or bad paint or whatever...I just need it to run as close to perfectly as possible. I don't wanna spend tons of money getting the fucker running, THEN spend tons of money doing the mods I want to do. If you know of one, lemme know. I'll even travel some. I just doubt you know of anywhere to look that I don't...
