Question Starion ?'s

I know these cars are very very rare, even much more so than VR-4's, but still, I hear a lot about how fast they are and what the can do. And the other day, I SAW ONE, its parked in front of a house right down the street from my girlfriends house. Its a black Starion, looks kinda like a cross between a 280zx and those old v8 porsche's the 944's, with the exception being the car HAS MASSIVE FENDER FLARES! i thought it looked rather impressive, I see it everyday now, here in Houston, Texas. I just thought it was an oddity, the only one I have ever seen.

How fast are they?

The best of the leaded Starions leapt from standstill to 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and stretched its legs over the quarter mile in 15.9 seconds. Back in 1982, that sort of acceleration from a 2-litre was nothing short of amazing.

they were made from 1982 to 1989 with a 2.0ltr turbo charged engine producing 170bhp which as yogs says was very impressive in its day.

they also made a 2.6 turbo for only 1 year (89-90) which is as rare as rocking horse s**t.

my dad owned a lancer turbo which was also only made for 1 year (1982) which had the same engine set up as the starion but was lighter and slightly faster. 0-60 in the lancer was 7 secs and i can still remeber to this day my dad booting it down the motorway. nothing could touch it in its class.

im sure this was the reason mitsubishi started to launch the evo and of course our babies....

bring it on mitsubishi!!!!

Nice cars, but the Starion still doesn't look like the one I saw, did they make any different body styles throughout the years of production?

Re: Starion ?'s

dont know if your still interested in the startion but i figured idd put in my 2c. starion has two different body style the wide body and the 2nd gen. they had 2.9 leter in 88 and 89 single turbo and rear wheel drive independent suspention with a posi. they weight around 5000lbs and if you dont get a stick there slow as shit i use to have a crysler version called the conquest and for a 88 it was fucking tits. had digital climate control disk breaks all around they are what started it all for mitsubishi. before everything. it was my first turboed car actually and like a dumb ass i sold it cause it wasnt holding boost and found out a week later it was cause the boost plumming was old the the hoses would colaps on themselfs and not hold pressure...ha...well theres some of my 2 cents on the subject...o and the only difference between the starion and the conquest is the starion has a black grill
