EGR system error
Hello
My 1993 Toyota Tercel in Europe ( very rare ) has a 71 code - EGR system error . The engine light sometimes appears and later disappers. It's very difficult to get parts for this tercel model in Europe and they are very expensive. What can I do to solve this problem? Can I try to use injector cleaner liquid? Can I try to clean EGR valve? Where Can I find it? Thanks

Take off the EGR valve (2 bolts and vacume lines) and clean out really good with carb cleaner. Then make sure the two ports in your intake are cleaned out. These tend to get clogged up really bad. It took me a few times to get it all cleaned out but since then have not had any problems with the light coming on. One way to find out if the intake ports are clogged is to remove the EGR and start the car up. If it runs fine then those two ports are clogged.
