SI Heads, Fact or Fiction
A friend of friend said that to make a 1.5L a 1.6L all I would need is to swap the heads..
I checked and all the head gaskets are the same size for the 1.5 and 1.6... Unless the 1.6 has a longer stroke to make it a 1.6 the piston sleeve should be bigger right?? I came from VW's and older chevys where we would use bigger pistons to get bigger displacement. FACT OR FICTION can you just swap the heads to get a bigger displacement with these motors? MAX... |

ya, the piston is bigger, plus the 1.6 head has a more aggressive cam, pluss you are also goin to need to do the mpfi swap to get the full potential out of your 1.6

if u put an Si head on a D15B2 block would u have any gains at all? or would u only get gains if u had the MPFI on the Si head?

Re: SI Heads, Fact or Fiction
yes you would have gains just from the head, but it would be mostly because of the cam, which you can use in the b2 head anyway

Re: SI Heads, Fact or Fiction
Thanks for setting that straight guys..
I understand now, even though the head gasket kit is the same for 1.5 and 1.6 it does not cover all the way up to the outer circle of the piston sleve..MAX |

Ok please inform us on how the piston is bigger since both the D16 and D15 motors share the 75mm bore??

Re: SI Heads, Fact or Fiction
O.K. now I'm lost (again),
You are saying the bore is 75 mm on all D-series motors so there must be a longer stroke to makeup for the size displacement.... Can't be the heads or there would be a drop in compression if they where bigger... Hrmm... DSSMAX <---- Lost again.... |

i give up on this, i thought the piston was bigger, but if they share the same bore, then they have to be the same size, so is there any difference in the pistons at all???

Is the crank different from the d15 and d16a6?
