Question PLEASE HELP>>> I need keyless entry codes for my 2003 Grand Am

Hi I recently purchased a 2003 Grand Am SE1 thru a dealer... I didn't receive any remotes and I then purchased 2 remotes... One a #1 and one a #2. The number 1 is a GM/Lear 25695954 and I can't recall what the number 2 was... It's here somewhere... I need codes to program them, or how do I program them... I am not that car savvy but this is my first new car purchase and I could really use some help... I would rather not pay a dealer to do this as I heard it's fairly simple... Thanks anyone for the help... I have found a great car with this Grand Am... I wish I had driven one before... Thanks... The Newbie... Buffie

well first things first, i doubt the hummer crowd are the people to be asking here, this thread should be in the pontiac forum, under grand am.

however, you are correct in that it is very easy to program the remotes, the exact steps to do this i do not know off the top of my head, however if you go to the local dealership, you should be able to ask for the directions to be printed up for you to use. if they refuse to do this, you can demand they program the remotes for free. as it is a law regarding this, that if they demand that you allow only them to do the work, they cannot charge you for it.

hope that helps.

Important
Inspect that the keyless entry transmitter is the correct model for the vehicle remote system. A wrong model transmitter may pass this test, but will not activate the vehicle remote system.

ok, i lied. for this car... you need to gain access to the bcm via a tech 2( diag computer) because you need to reset the the codes between the transmitters, and the module under the rear parcel shelf. like i mentioned above... make sure that those transmitters are for that car, if not, then they will not work.

your best bet is to go to a pontiac dealership with the vin number and ask them if they can find the codes for you. they should be able to program them for you . they usually keep the codes on file for quite a few years.
