It is idling too fast! Check to see if the butterfly on the carb is fully open and the fast idle cam (passenger side of carb) is dropped down. You can lube it so it can drop. You may have the idle set too fast (driver side of carb) - possibly to keep the car running with the AC on? Is there an idle solenoid on the carb? Is it working? Adjust it properly with the AC on so when you turn off the car it will drop the idle down to the idle screw on the carb. If it doesn't work, back it off so it can work off the one on the carb. Then adjust the idle so it will keep running while the car is in gear.

idle speed and/or timign is too far advanced, also youre carb may have carbon gunk buildup at the throttle plate blades, get carb cleaner and clean base of carb real good and hten also tighten up all the carb assembly screws and slap choke shut and then right back open againon her a coupe times when you hold throttle open a good amount, tighten carb miunting bolts too, stuff works loose over time,
check this stuff often,

also grab a vacuum guage real quick and make sure idle vacuum is between 18 and 22,
adjust timig to correct it,

now go burn rubber off the tires

good luck
