Daytime Running Lights

I drive a 99 contour SVT and I noticed that the daytime running lights stay on ALL THE TIME. In most cars the day time lights go off when you put on the hand brake, but apparently that is not the case with this car. I noticed this when I went to the drive-in and wanted to put up my windows, and when i turned the key the lights stayed on. Is there any way to get the daytime running lights to turn off when I put on the parking brake?

SOme car companys always have the day time running lights always on . Chevrolet and oldsmobile all the GM cars dtr lights go off with the parking break on so it really depens on the car company . But Ford has them always on .

Re: Daytime Running Lights

Find Daytime Running Lights RELAY (inside fuse box near battery under hood), remove RELAY, carefully remove relay cover, unsolder jumper pin (about 1/5 in long, 12 gauge), solder 2 12 gauge wires where jumper was and run wires to a good quality switch. I made a hole in the fuse box and mounted switch with added silicone to prevent water from going in. Works great!
