Ae86 Swap

I recently bought an 86 Corolla GTS coupe and was wondering a little about the engines that would suit me best. There's only three that I've been looking up and wanted to get some first hand opinions on them. Right now it has the stock 4AG with 190k miles. It's pretty strong. The ones I'm looking at are the 4AGZE, 4AG 20valve, or another 4AG with less miles. I'm still going to keep the stock one in there until I get a good feel for the car but sooner or later I'm going to upgrade or atleast do some mods. Aren't they around the same price range, atleast the turbo and the 20 valve? About how much hp can I get out of them? How much of a hassle are they to swap? Can I get some feedback please.

Re: Ae86 Swap

If your car comes standard with a 4A engine with fuel injection, any of them should go in fairly easily. The 4AGZE (Supercharged) is the most powerful, but I personally like the 20V, purely out of personal preference.

Re: Ae86 Swap

would you happen to know the base HP of all three of those engines. I've read 130 for the 4AG then I also read 160 for that same engine somewhere else.

Re: Ae86 Swap

stick to 16v 4ag whether its 4a-ge or 4a-gze. 20v modifications are hard to find but for 16v theyre everywhere.

Re: Ae86 Swap

yeah definitely stay with 16v. 20v swaps are a pain in the ass because the wiring involved in swapping it.

20V swap

I've got an AE111 front clip with a 4AGE 20V blacktop engine in it. I'm selling it for $2200 if you're intersted. Email me at [email protected] for more info.

Thanks!

Terence
