Headlight bulbs

yo yo yo the topic says it all. I need good bulbs that are bright and wont burn out in a couple of months. Right now i have aftermarket headlights but stock bulbs and they barely light the road when i am driving fast on the backroads lol. Also does anyone know what is the number for the bulbs for a 96 honda civic lx automatic 4dr??? Thanks a shitload

Cool Blues are not good from what I'd heard and seen.

ALL 5th and 6th generation Civics use HB2 or H4 type bulbs. HB2 = H4 That's what you want to get.

I just bought myself a set of Silverstars. From the AutoZone people and their computers, they said i should get number 9003 so i followed their word. After installation i could see a complete difference. I would recommend these to anyone.

Re: Headlight bulbs

yeah the SilverStars are the best I'v seen (without sending a few hundred on a HID conversion) The Cool blues are shit though, its sad because sylvania usually makes good lighting stuff.

I am in now way knocking Silverstars...if anyone thinks I am go read sticky thread on aftermarket lightbulbs and color temps at the top of the forum...

However, if you want qaulity lights and think the Silverstars look much better, you should also check out the PIAA Super Plasma's (or Super Plasma GT-X). PIAA also makes high qaulity bulbs, has a 1 year warretny on them, plus the Super Plasma and Super Plasma GT-X are about as close as you'll get on HID'S without getting the real thing.

I've run basically nothing but super plasma's as my headlights since 2002. SilverY2KCivic runs Super Plasma GT-X's now, and has also ran Silverstars in the past. You won't go wrong with either of those 2 choices.

here is a link to the sticky thread...SilverY2Kcivic posted a pic of the Super Plasma GT-X's, though the pics don't do them justice...they look much better and much more like the real thing in real life...though they still look nice in the pic. I explain a lot about headlights and bulbs on the first page...silverY2K posted the pic on the 3rd page.

eckoman_pdx is correct. I used to run SilverStars, and I loved them! PIAA Super Plasma GT-X are better IMO, however. I replaced my SilverStars with the GT-X once I got my Civic Type-R headlight housings (the real JDM ones, not imitations) because i wanted to try them out, and got them for a good price, and I also thought they would compliment the new JDM housings much better as well. I couldn't have made a better decision on the bulbs I fell. I still have my SilverStars, nothing wrong with them, just have them stored away in my glove box incase I ever need a spare bulb(s) for any reason. Always good to keep spares handy anyways. Now if HID look isn't a priority or even a concern to you, then you can't at all go wrong with the Sylvanias as they are still the brightest OEM style bulb on the market. The GT-X are slightly brighter, thought it could be the CTR headlight housings that make them seem brighter since they don't have the lame bulb shield over them that the USDM housings have. Both bulbs are excellent quality, and both should last you with a long life of service, at least longer than your average hyperwhite bulb.If you can't find the PIAA Super Plasma or S/P GT-X for under $75, then just get the Silver Stars, they are no more than $50 for a pair, and sometimes cheaper when on sale.
