Talking Got an AutoLock at Autozone today..

If you don't already know, the autolock is an anti-theft device that hooks on the brake pedal arm, and you pull up on this rod, and it basically locks the brake(or clutch if you got a manual). This device actually looks very good, its very easy to put on/take off also. It is better then the club cause the steering wheel is easy to brake. All i need now is a dummy Led light(that looks like a legit alarm).

It seems like a good device.Seeing as how if they do turn it on,they cant shift the tranny.Still,I wouldnt put up that big yellow cover that just screams "TAMPER WITH ME!".How much did you get it for, their site sells it for 50 bux.I might buy one.I too, live in a bad neighborhood.

I got it for around $60.00 plus the usual tax. Probably could have got cheaper online, but i just wanted it there and then, cause it was the last one on the shelf. Also, the same day i returned a $300.00 viper alarm system at best buy, i decided i just don't want that crap. I'd rather a more so PHYSICAL heavey duty lock system, which is a bitch to get at-even if you have a blowtorch or saws to get to.

ps.. autolock.com, or search around. I opted for the autolock-Pro, it's a more heavey duty lock system.

I like putting a hidden switch in the car that keeps you from being able to shift the car into gear. See, most new cars have that deal that you can not put it in gear unless you have the brakes on. Well, one relay and a hidden switch later.....you can't go anywhere until you press the button. You can even use a factory switch like power side mirrors or something.

Ive seen some of those before. You have to press some buttons in the dash in some order for the car to turn on.It uses the factory buttons.Pretty sweet.(And expensive).
Seeing as how the price doesnt look like its coming down anytime soon.Im gonna buy that auto lock online.

I don't have one to post. It's just comon vehicle electrical wiring. Also, this I don't recomend just anyone to do. If you do it wrong, you don't go! All you do it get a regular 5 pole 12v. relay, wire it inline to your brake wire sensor into the steering colomn. This is the wire that has to see either ground or 12v to retract the pin to let you shift the car into gear. Then either install a hidden switch somewhere or use a plain sight switch in the car for the trigger. Of course you'll need to get a 12v. ignition source as well.

The following I am referring to the #'s you'll see printing on your relay. So it would go something like this if you have a negative triggered safety switch...

#86 to 12v ignition source
#85 to your switch you want to use that sends out a ground pulse
#87a to one side of the brake switch wire
#30 to the other side of the brake switch wire

NOTE: you can also use the actuall safety nuetral switch for this too. WHat it will do is keep the car from starting at all. The theif would flip because there would be no alarm to bypass.

MacGuyver Style. Nice.

That would be pretty sweet to do on your own.You get that warm, satisfaction feeling inside. Not to mention it will be custom.Im gonna go for it this weekend.Dont worry,I have some skill in wiring and elecomotronics.

Re: Got an AutoLock at Autozone today..

Anybody who does any kind of automotive wirring should be able to handle this if they think it through first! I might do it depending on my freetime. I'm going to college and work so I don't think Ill get to it anytime soon. Oh well!
