What's wrong with intro?

the names Frank. I'm living in VA right now, but in a couple weeks i'll be going back to my place of origin, OH.
I'm driving a 2001 Grand Am Se 2.4L, and i gotta tell ya, i love it.
I found automotiveforums by mistake actually. I was looking around google to try and see what Carbon Fiber Hoods were going for. They look pretty damn sweet, so i was searching around, and i think i found a post about it somewhere on this site. I figured, hey, everyone else in heres got a Grand Am, mine as well register and incase i ever need any suggestions, they could help out. Ya know?

I dont have too much done to my car..practically nothing, just a Cold Air Intake on it, but i did just buy an underbody kit from ebay so im looking to spruce up my lil baby. thanks for the warm welcome.

Frank

Re: Hello All

Rleav , Id like to see the cold air intake for your grand am gt. Most them kits are less efficient than factory ram air for cold air induction or work as well as factory only without the ram air. The factory ram air IS cold Air Induction as well as forced , the air cleaner box is the same as regular v6 3400 so it also has a lower intake that goes through the fender , thats cold intake too. So if you have an open filter in the engine bay thats called Hot air induction , and your car has to work harder to produce hp.
Any ways welcome.

The so called "Ram Air" is fairly useless used as forced induction, as you would need to go about 120 mph to increase hp and force air faster than the engine is sucking it. It does do good as a cold air though. Basicly a CAI is less restrictive, and more straight through air passage, rather than stock which has restrictions made to cut the noise level. I preferably like to mod the stock airbox and maf to gain the better hp and less restrictive flow. Just my on air intake.

Re: Hello All

thats not too bad of a price man. I think im a llittle late on the intro thing but i never properly introduced myself on this forum...

my name is Derek and i just turned 20 on June 1. Im from a small town about 45 minutes north of Pittsburgh, PA. I drive a 95 GA SE 5 spd which i call "Bridget" for undisclosed reasons ; )...heh heh...Just FYI, I just pushed the old gal over 150,000 miles this past weekend and shes still goin strong. Theres no mods on it as of yet..im currently in the process of making my own cold air intake and i have a set of rims on it..nothing too fansy (college kid income)

Re: Hello All

nice to meet ya, just turned 19 this past february, and pretty soon i'll be livin in columbus, OH. only sad thing about my car is i paid alot for it, because at the time the car my dad gave me (95 dodge spirit) wasnt in the best condition, and the tranny went out, so i had to find a car pronto, came across this 01 GA, and i loved it: smooth ride, good gas mileage, but it was 10k,used, 36k miles. my parents have bad credit, so my interest rate is 17%, going to eventually pay out around 16k total for it, when new GA's are around 15k, heh. Bummer.
