First race in the camry!! WOO HOO! *vid*

rightclicksaveas

OK so my bud chris called me up and was like "hey you wanna race your camry?" He's got a 91 4banger mustang convert. We are both auto. I thought about it and was like "sure" so we met up at a parkinglot and headed out for a country road. My axle is goin bad so i told him i wouldnt run from a dig (which i had to explain to him that was from a stop )

So we went from a 30 roll and i woudl try to pass him (2 lane road). The camry is torqueless so he pulled up to about 45. I finally got my camera workin and got it recording right at 50, which is where the camry starts pullin, and where his stang starts hittin a wall ha ha. As soon as i hit 65 i started pullin him HARD and at 70 it was no contest (which is right were i passed him in the vid). His stang tops out at 85 so ha ha yeah i took him in the top end.

Not much of a supercar race and a really bad quality video, but i tried!

Re: First race in the camry!! WOO HOO! *vid*

good job.

I do recall you saying in another thread that the camry is quick up to about 50 and then it doesn't pull very hard. now you say it is slow up until 50 and then starts to pull?

yeah, but that 2.3L in his stangs got a lot more torque than the camry, so he's good up to like 45 then his pull seems to slow up.

Re: First race in the camry!! WOO HOO! *vid*

i have ridden in a car very similar to yours, so i can guess the power depending upon the shape of the engine. i have never ridden in a 4 banger stang-that just doesn't make much sense to me anymore.

i guess you were trying to get across what is relative. how your car performs in relation to its bystander.

Yup, congrats and good luck. CRXs aren't the most powerful, but they only weigh about 2000 lbs, so it evens out.

Re: First race in the camry!! WOO HOO! *vid*

thats the same way with my olds. it pulls alright in between start till upto 45 then it just pulls hard till almost 85-90 it slacks off...but i've never raced in it.
