Keyless entry door code?

Can anyone tell me where in the world I find the keyless entry code for the driver side door on my 2001 Sports Trac? Ford keeps telling me they have to hook it up to a machine and charge me money!

Look in the in the back of the explorer on the drivers side. In the side panel that holds the water for the rear window you will see a square module tucked away. It will have the code for your vehicle.

Re: Keyless entry door code?

Do you still have the owner's manual for your 2001? Page 115 of my manual states that the keyless entry code is taped to the computer module. Now, you can locate the computer module in one of two ways. Either call the dealership, this is what I did, or another repair facility and ask them where the module is located. On my 2000 explorer xlt it is located on the drivers side, behind a panel in the rear of the vehicle. And you are correct in that the windshield washer is up front, for both the front and rear windows.

The computer module is about 4" x 4" and has a square connector with a bunch of cables comming into it. They gotta be hiding that sucker somewhere on the sport track.

If you can find it you will save yourself about $80. That's what the dealer charged me for supposedly connecting it to their computer. I was lucky enough to watch the mechanic just look read the code right off the little square box. Good luck.

I found mine in the storage panel behind the rear seat. You'll need a small mirror to see it but the 5 digit code will be on a sticker on the computer module.

Re: Keyless entry door code?

I love this thread. I come to it a couple of times a week just to read everything. I have learned so much about my Explorer. So thank you all. I saved myself several many hundreds of dollars by knowing enough to tell a dealership they were wrong about what ws wrong with my audio system. They said they'd need to tear the whole front dash apart. When I told the guy all he had to do was pop the door panel out and check the wires around the computer module and fix the one that was shorting. He sarcastically told me to do it myself then! I figured that wasn't a bad idea, so I left.

It could be behind the right kicker panel under the glovebox

Re: Keyless entry door code?

It is in the back behind the rear seat on the drivers side (same as the jack) and forward of the opening. You WILL need a mirror or you can pull really hard on the pannel to get a good look. Even if you dont have a resevoir

Door Code

If you haven't found it yet, it's in the glove box. I had the same problem for my sport trac. Write me back if you need directions on how to get to it.
