Need help to starting to upgrading performance

I have a 95 LX 4.6 V8and it has been painted black...never been in an accident. I really like the look, it has 250,000Km on it. It runs great at the moment. I have been thinking about lowering it, new wheels and tires and headers to start..or..should I start with freshening up performance of the engine?...Help Please

My thoughts exactly...but you can lower it, don't slam it, and get some really nice rims and tires that won't have the typical 'rice' effect. It will also greatly improve the handling. Personally, I would do the mechanical stuff first. The old saying 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' doesn't necessarily hold true. The engine has a lot of miles/km's on it. It may be good for another 250k km. You may even want to freshen up the motor and trans while you add some bolt ons.

As said before, check out www.tccoa.com. They have done just about everything possible.

if you go with a bigger throttle body and u/d pullies make sure you have a stronger altenator and one size up injectors, on the V8 i think it has 19lb injectors, 24lb with a 70mm throttle body is a good combo, as for u/d pullies, go with a 110 amp altenator, also, try to look into headers and H pipe exhaust system, i'd go with flowmaster, it gives the 4.6L a throghty sound to it, plus with the headers and H pipe exhaust system, you can expect a good 50 to 70 HP boost

Thanks!!
I just got some wheels and I am going to go with a true dual exhaust. I will be looking into what you have mentioned seriously. Any ideas about a tranny upgrade....that has to happen as well I am sure??

Re: Need help to starting to upgrading performance

You won't see 50 hp unless you unchoke the intake along with the exhaust.

Does that mean I will have to with another intake? Maybe I should look at that before I put the exhaust on.

Your car has no resembelance to the word rice. Some kids have to read the dictionary first.Or at least look up rice on google.

Another mod suggestion.Maybe you can add some steeper gears. And a good shift kit.
