Rotors a dealer Item?

I went to Advanced Auto Parts yesterday to get new rotors and brake pads for my car, and they told me i couldn't get the rotors from them because it was a dealer item, and that i'd have to call the dealer for my rotors. Rotors? Is this true? If so, how much can i expect the dealer to screw me for? If it isn't true, then where else could i go to get them without the same moronic response?

Re: Rotors a dealer Item?

get them online... i seem to see a lot better deals online for rotors than a parts store! and no you dont need to go thru the dealer!

I got a good price at autozone last time I bought rotors. Definteily not dealer only.

If your gonna buy rotors, consider slotted rotors paired with EBC "greenstuff" pads.....A great combo!!!

Re: Rotors a dealer Item?

lol, actually, i just bought rotors 2 days ago. Here's the story.

I called the dealer the other day and priced out rotors from them. They gave a price of around $170 per rotor. I proceeded to ask, and i quote, "What in hell kind of rotors are they?!" A customer from the restaurant heard me, and he made a call of his own to a store down the street. They priced out oem replacements for $12.78 per rotor and brembo's(not cross-drilled) for $54 per rotor. I'm a little short on cash after splurging on rims, so i opted for the oem replacements, and saved myself 200 bucks from the dealer. I'll put the car on my cousin's lift and put them and some brake pads obviously on friday if i'm not busy.
