Need help with 2001 Malibu stereo replacement Harness

Can anyone tell me what type of wire connector I need to connect with the factory radio harness? Radio Shack doesn't have any idea of what I need. 16-pin, 32-pin??? Any help will be most appreciated.

First off dont go to radio shack for car parts, their wire is fine but everything else is overpriced.
Second if you are replacing the radio your new radio will have the wire harness you need included with it.

My mistake. I've got the wire set for my CD receiver. I need help with the harness converter that will enable me to connect into the Malibu's Stereo wire set. The plug that I need is a rectangular piece which complements the Malibu's plug that came out of the factory stereo. I'd really like to have this plug in connection rather that attempt to splice the wires from the stereo to the power, speakers, antenna, ect.

Thats going to be pretty hard to find. I still think your going to have to strip the wires. It is pretty easy and your new cd player should have a diagram for what each color wire does.

WARNING...make sure you get the special wiring harness for 01 malibus, in our model the computer diagnostics are run through the radio..DO NOT SPLICE, it is extremely dangerous....unfortunately to take care of this you have to buy an 80 dollar harness that comes with a little black box that compensates for the factory radio

Would you happen to know who makes this black box and possibly it's part number?
