vibration at 4000 RPM

Hi!
The problem that I have now is that when the motor is close to the 4000 rotations it makes a noise that is transmitted by the fist of the speeds.
this happens with the 944 stopped and in all the speeds, it is very bad when I circulate in 5 speed between 100mph and 115mph

I thank some help that can give with its experience in these cars.

Joao

Re: vibration at 4000 RPM

A few questions
Is it noise + vibration?
Where's it coming from? front, rear, middle, everywhere
Only in gear? does it do it free reving?
What year 944? (please add this to your sig.)

tks 83-944

It is a 944 of 83, it is noise + vibration but only in the selecctor of speeds, it seems very bad bearing. more noise!!!
And whenever it goes by 4000rpm it makes the same noise later it disappears ace 6000 even.
only in gear the noise and vibration
sorry, I use a translator here, I live in Portugal
tks

Re: vibration at 4000 RPM

Could be:
balance shaft out of alignment.
going out engine mount.
possibly a mid-range miss.

go to www.clarks-garage.com
on the left Garage Shop Manual
B, Balance Shafts, Alignment Check, Step 5
M, Motor Mounts, Checking

try that first

Re: vibration at 4000 RPM

ignition misfire, bad spark plug wire.
