97 G/A Air Cond Recharge Valve

Does anyone know where the valve to recharge the air conditioning Freon is located. I was told somewhere under the engine, do not want to jack the car up and remove all the plastic panels until I know for sure. Is there anywhere online that I can get a schematic of the engine to see it on paper?

Which engine do you have? If you have a picture of it, I could probably point it out for you.

Sorry, I forgot - it's the 4 cyld., I think it's the 2.4?

I'd like to know the answer to this one also. My husband is looking for it in my 97 Grand Am SE with the 2.4L Twin Cam. Seems to not be where the books says.

My husband found it and didn't tell me. It is on the back of the compressor. It has a black cap with an "L" on it. Now, how to get the compressor to kick on, is his next step.

mine is right behide the ac compressor but it is blue with a L on it
