Re: Restrictor

You dont need to go that fast on a public road, your going to kill yourself or someone else.

The only reason you need to go faster then 105mph is if you traping that in the 1/4 mile.

Re: Restrictor

you guys are really hard core about not racing at high speeds, huh? i mean it makes sense i just never thought id hear those words in a car forum..... i agree most people dont know how to handle a car at high speeds, even i dont believe im totally capable of controlling my car at high speeds and intense manuevering....... just curious though are yall into off the line speed, or just mainly a proper functioning vehicle? and i suppose partially due to this not being the performance forums..........

Re: Restrictor

i agree with grandamld9 and fluffybunny...i admit that ive had mine up to 105 out of anger (for losing a friend in a car accident of all things) and im sure everyone has pushed their car to its limit just to see what it can do but it really isnt safe and i never care to do that again. It is totally illogical to go that fast on public roads.

Why you would want to go faster than 105 for non racing purposes is beyond me but i can tell you that people can and will die..possibly yourself...so do us and yourself a favor and dont remove the restricter...please

Re: Restrictor

I been close to 155mph but on the 1/4 mile im going only around 94-101mph. I think thats more than a person needs on normal roads. But for those of us who need to burn rubber to the tracks we go! Look out for lil kids and dont kill yourself.

Re: Restrictor

I had my GA up to 110 on the NYS thruway. The governer still didnt kick in, but i know it works cuz it kicks in if you have the car in nuetral or park and you rev the engine it kicks in at 4 grand. I dont ever wanna go that fast of public roads, the stretch of thruway i was on was stright for like 5 miles so i decided to try it, and out there i dont like it too much. Theres a nice rush at first, but then its like what the hell am i doing.

Re: Restrictor

I used to have road rage issues and speeding was the only way to keep me from going berserk in the car. I dont commute 80 miles to work any more so my road rage issue is no more! I been good since last years ticket at 90 mph in a 60mph zone (was late for work) passed a line of 15 cars and one was unmarked interceptor who caught up to me 10 minutes later after passing the line up. He accused me of giving him a high speed chase and said he caught me cus i thought i lost him. I wasnt even aware he was chasing me till i got to the freeway and he flew up behind me on it. I didnt have my wallet or reg/ins on me so the blue bruiser got towed into town. I had several charges for speeding and recless driving no reg no liscence and worse and most stupid of all the 1/4 lb of pot in the trunk wasnt that impressive to the cop as well. I plead guilty in court the first day got to do community hours at a campground. I did 20 hours community service for them instead of 200 for fixing up a civic they had kicking around.
The total fines i had were - speed ticket - $260 no registration - $97 no liscence - $97 No ins info - $97 Recless driving - $120 Pot in trunk - $200 fine.
See how much money no top end limiter costs in the long run! Take my word for it and use a race track! I have 179hp at the wheels and 271lbs torque at the wheels and the car has a 1/4 mile mid 14's almost 14 flat once. Consistant 14 flat is my final goal with the bruiser.

Re: Restrictor

whoa..sounds like you had a bad day and to top it all off you were already late for work.

worst and only ticket i ever had was 60 in a 35, $164 and 3 pts to my name...i must say, i wouldve much rather spent that money else where.

Re: Restrictor

you all are good.. i was going down a good streach of road and you don't want too take off your govener for any resone.. i was doing 95 in a 60 and i was detained i got pulled over by AZ DPS good thing was i was near a small town so he followed me in to the town to the court house gave me my ticket at the court house i plead guilty to reckless speedding. and paid a $350 ticket. the only resone i was going that fast was because my daughter was born 2 hrs before i had gotten pulled over. and i lived 10hr drive from where my wife was staying. so after that i never drive that fast any where any time

Re: Restrictor

my best was 98 in a 65.......5 underage passengers.... 3 cases of beer.... sherrif chased me through 3 counties and took him 20 min to catch up to me.... when i saw his lights i knew he was comming after me so i slowed down and ge got right behind me..... i pulled over and he ran up to my car with his gun pulled and told everyone to get out and on the ground..... we were all in the military so he dumped all our beer, gave me a speeding ticket and told us to be careful..... we stopped at the next gas station and bought somemore beer with a fake id and went to the heavy metal concert in dallas we were headed for......it was a good night.....ticket was only 165.....

Re: Restrictor

I hope to regularilly attend the drag strip to take any future agressions. I am building up a car for drags , unfortunately it isnt a Grand Am , its an escort lol I have a 5.0 Im fabricating into it , when I am done with that car I can keep the grand am for regular driving trips instead. I would never tear down the highway like I did ever again.
