ahh my dad just discovered something. at TDC the cams are supposed to be ( \ / ) for the dots but the dots r ( l - ) . Could that be causing my whole engine to be slow?

if your cam gears have slipped then you would know it your engine would be running sooo bad...i know i just rebuilt my head and i missed my cam gear teeth by one tooth and it ran horrible... it would be a very good idea to check that out. even though i dont know how that would have happened unless your timing belt slipped.

I think the KA's use a chain that can't really slip.

Re: Help

The timing chain has either stretched or the tensioner has gone bad. The chain can't slip, but it can skip a tooth on the cam gear if the chain tension problem becomes severe.

Re: Help

Actually, check out your mafs. Check the connection and clean the little prongs inside with rubbing alcohol and a q tip. It probably is your timing, but it would be a lot easier to find a little problem like this then to retime the engine.

Re: Help

probably a tensioner or cam gears. Somebody may have already replaced the timing chain and accessories. Kits are sold from a lot of places. The person who replaced it may have timed the engine improperly. It can happen when you put the chain on by having one or both of the camshafts turn slightly.
