I plan on getting 285/75-16's this spring/summer (followed by a 3 inch body lift later on but not required for 285's). Many people have done that on the stock wheels with no problems. Some have put 295/75-16's on with some cranking on the torsion bars. I think I've even seen a guy with 305/75-16's, but personally, I think that's too much for stock rims and no lift.

I have 285/75/16 BFG All Terrains on my Z71. I adjusted the torsions slightly and it worked out great. I wouldn't go any larger than that on a stock wheel. If your Silverado is one that sits a little on the low side you may want to use the 265/70/16 which is stock on the Offroad package.

I have 255/85/16 BFG MT'S and they do not rub plus they are alot narrower that the 285's so it is alot easier driving around in snow as well as being a little easier on gas mileage

You can fit 285's with no problem. 305's will fit barely, but you might have to slightly trim the lower bumper valance.
